Reasons I love London. You never know what you will find walking about :)
I love London!
Saw this going home after dinner.
Sorry for the lack of posting. This week has been an absolute roller coaster ride. Especially with work.
It is Friday night and I am tired and had a beer at work, some wine and a wee cocktail. It is time for sleep. But a proper update and some postings are definitely in order tomorrow.
I’m starting to think maybe I need to start having an ‘aspect’ or theme in my blog, rather than just my life. It even sends me to sleep. Ha.
I did end up going on my second date with the Irish and not chickening out in the last minute. We ended up going to eat at a French restaurant. We also ended up eating a three course meal and chatting all the way through. Even tasted each others desserts. Finally it came to paying the bill, I asked what my share of the bill was and offered to pitch in. He refused and paid for my dinner too. Thankfully we only had a drink each, minus the ridiculous amount of Grand Marnier they put in my dessert. It probably made the bill less expensive (and I found out I get along well with him sober haha).
Then he wanted a plan of what to do next, as ended up eating and talking for two hours we basically missed most of the movies playing. It was a lovely evening so we ended up walking from London Bridge down the Thames to the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben (a good 1.5 hour walk)… and back again (THREE HOURS!!) just chatting and sight seeing, ‘arguing’ on who is appreciating the view more (yes, we walked along the bank of that photo).
So it came to the end of the night and we stood staring at the statues outside the London Dungeons while he put his arm around me. Finally walked to the tube to go our separate ways and catch the last train home. But not before some smooches. Ha. *happydance*
He then text me to make sure I got home ok and we agreed the evening was great and we had to do it again soon.
Now? Now I’m waiting to hear from him to ask me out again. I sent the last good night message, and asked him to meet for the second time. Now I got to stick to my guns and wait to hear from him. I kind of want that third date.
Harder than it seems and its only been 3 days (but who is counting….) ;)
So a wee update
New Year’s was amazing :) Good food, good wine and good company. The best one I have had in years for sure. Absolutely loved it.
Also have been texting Irish here and there, I think he is getting fond of texting me. We wished each other Happy New Year and he actually said he was looking forward to seeing me again. (happy.dance.com) .
So… I have a date with him on Saturday :) Though I may have shot myself in the foot and I’m not so sure if that date involves me cooking. Dammit.
Back in London, work tomorrow, still have to unpack and change my sheets and shower. And it is past midnight. Ugh Fml.
I think 2012 may start looking good :)
London a while back with friends seeing the free deadmau5 concert and light show for nokia…. Shit quality… Stupid Phone…
First date location
So I got the flat!!! This area will be my new home for at least 8-12months. Yay :) A home! No longer a prospective homeless person!! :) And we have views of the water and docks… not to mention 2 bathrooms!!
So, I may have a new home in the Docklands, if the landlord accepts my offer and all that jazz :). I mean the Docklands is a ‘nice’ place. It feels a little like the “NYC” of London. Which, in essence does lose its very English charm. Thank God the real London is only a short DLR/Tube/Bus ride away. Hell, Canary Wharf/Isle of Dogs cannot be *that* bad right? Even just for a year?
The flat has been the best one I’ve seen so far. I really hope my offer gets accepted. Goodbye homelessness/short term let stays etc etc.
Once that box gets (potentially) checked I can finally talk all my time to the whole getting a job thing.
Apart from those two (crucial…things) life is moving along quite nicely. And I’m starting to quite like the boy I’m kissing. We’ve ended up speaking daily….
Yea, London, just you wait….. I’ll conquer you yet!
Had a very overly romantic second date with the boy. It also led to a very overly romantic few kisses right here. By the Thames, next to Tower Bridge. So overly ick. But it made my heart melt a little.
So, still in a major flat hunting process. Argh! I don’t have long left. I knew it was really hard to find a flat in London but shoot me now, to find a nice 2 bed flat in Zone 1-2 on some kind of realistic budget. Impossible. Apparently. Well no hopes lost, got to keep on trucking.
Also really need to get into gear with the job hunt. Argh. But tomorrow I’m having a super Dim Sum lunch in Chinatown, with drinks (wouldn’t have it any other way), with my friend to celebrate her getting a job. Yay! I am super happy for her!!! :) (Though a little jealous, damn now I *really* need to get one!!).
Finally, my date….
The moment you all have been waiting for/I have been dying to write about. (I don’t know who gets more satisfaction out of this, you or me).
Well we went for coffee, he told me to get seats, asked me what I wanted and went to get drinks and paid, and opened all the doors for me. Then we went to a pub for a pint (yes only one each). Then headed to a ‘fancier’ pizza restaurant and got pizza and a Coke, and finally went to one more pub for a pint, which was down some awful mega steep staircase, and he walked by my side. I could tell he was hoping to ‘grab my arm to help me down them’. Who said chivalry was dead?
Then he had to go to a friend’s birthday party. We said our goodbyes and ….yes….. yes there was a kiss…or three or four. But very innocent ones. I have to get on my tippy toes to reach him so it probably looked hilariously awkward. But well successful first date. We are going out again in two weeks time (this upcoming weekend I am heading up to Scotland.. my God I’ve missed that place). So lets see how date number two goes. As for now, we seem to text daily with a few phone calls in between.
As for him? Well he is a little pale and a little geeky. You can tell he probably had bad skin throughout high school. Yet, he has me charmed. He has blue blue eyes, is tall, plays instruments, draws and loves art, loves history, is an avid football fan and we have the same geek side to us. I don’t know why, but he makes grin ear to ear. (It sounds like I am gushing I know but to be honest, he seems to bring out a side of me (when it comes to crushes) that I thought died in high school. So let me have my cake and eat it too. :P
Otherwise, SCOTLAND IN 3 NIGHTS!! YAY!!
My dissertation deadline is making its way towards me, stepping to the Imperial March theme. Its due in a week.
I’m getting there, I’m getting there. Will be a hellish week as well! London is getting colder and I have max a week to wait still to hear from job… well 5 days. And I’m trying to stay pessimistic so if it is bad news I won’t be phased.
But a week from now…. GOODBYE ACADEMIA…FOREVER! :)
